Council destroys local woodland to prove their commitment to the environment

Wales is facing a biodiversity crisis—18% of species are at risk of extinction, and 90 species have already disappeared since 1970. Recent destruction of mature native woodland in Bridgend for a butterfly garden is a stark reminder that we must prioritize sustainability. Instead of cutting trees that help combat carbon emissions, we should focus on regenerating existing spaces like Parc Slip nature reserve.
Wales has the potential to lead by example with its impressive 66.6% recycling rate. Together, we can turn the tide on biodiversity loss through collaboration and sustainable practices. Let’s protect our natural heritage before it’s too late.
